Haamiyah
a little about..

HAAMIYAH

Firstly THANK YOU for making it here as I realise how unusual ‘Haamiyah’ sounds and is spelt. I won’t be surprised if you have never heard it before. This has been a curse and a gift all my life. It’s my name!

A curse because I have had to spell it a million times in my lifetime already. A gift because of the fascinating reactions I get when I explain it. Haamiyah is an Arabic adjective and it means ‘Fiercely Burning.’ My late grandmother named me as she thought it sounded ‘nice,’ unaware of its meaning. Her ignorance has resulted in a lifetime gift.
